Monthly accessibility fix lists for small online shops
Scan small online shops for accessibility problems each month, and send a plain fix list, without claiming compliance.
01The idea
What you'd build
A small tool scans a shop's main pages every month for accessibility problems, like missing image text, low contrast or forms without labels. It sends a plain fix list: what's wrong, where, and how to fix it, with screenshots. Charge about $19–39 a month (estimate). Be honest: automated scans find only part of the problems and are not a legal check.
Why now: The European Accessibility Act has applied since June 2025, and 95.9% of top home pages still fail automated checks.
02Demand
Is anyone asking for this?
An idea is only worth your time if real people want it. Here's what we found.
- A yearly scan of the top 1 million home pages found detectable accessibility failures on 95.9% of them (Feb 2026), with 56.1 errors per page on average.
- A scan of online shops in 10 European countries found about 95% of sampled home pages had at least one automated failure.
- The European Accessibility Act began to apply to many online shops on 28 June 2025. As of Oct 2026, regulators mostly inspect and ask for fixes; published fines are still rare.
03The gap
Why isn't this solved already?
Full audits by experts cost a lot. Cheap "one-click" widgets often promise compliance they can't deliver: in 2025 a US regulator ordered one widget maker to pay $1 million for such claims. Small shops want an honest, affordable to-do list.
04The pain point
What hurts, and when
Shop owners hear about new accessibility rules but don't know what's wrong with their site or where to start, and they can't afford a big audit.
😣 When it hurts: When they hear about the European Accessibility Act, or a customer complains they can't use the site.
05Who needs this
The person you'd build for
- 👤Who they are
- Small online shops, and the freelancers and agencies who build their sites.
- 🧰What they use today
- Nothing, a free one-off scan, or a widget that promises more than it can do.
- 📍Where to find them
- Shop-owner groups, web agency communities, LinkedIn, and searches like "accessibility checklist for online shop".
- 💳Why they'd pay
- A clear monthly to-do list costs far less than an expert audit. One small scan-and-fix service shows ~$850 in 30 days.
06AI score
How much AI can do
🤖 AI does
- Builds the tool, the pages and the listing
- Runs checks and fixes problems
- Writes posts, emails and replies for you to check
- Turns your numbers into a weekly note
🙋 You do
- Make the accounts and pass ID checks
- Approve what AI makes
- Post, send and talk to buyers
- Handle the money, tax and decisions
AI can also prepare the selling and marketing work: posts, emails and replies. But a person has to do it: post, send and talk to buyers.
How hard is it? Medium.
07Your AI
What to have your AI do
Use any AI assistant you like. One paid plan (~$20 a month) is usually enough. Here's what to have it do:
Search the web for people asking for this, and list who already sells it and their weak spots.
Write the tool step by step, test it, and explain anything you need to do by hand.
Write your website, store listing and help pages in plain words, with no income claims.
Draft posts, emails and replies. You edit them, then post and send them yourself.
Keep your FAQ and refund rules in one saved chat or project, so every reply follows them.
Re-run the tests, check for changes, and turn your weekly numbers into a short note.
