Done-for-you show notes for small podcasts
Turn each new episode of a small podcast into checked show notes, timestamps and an episode page, for a flat monthly price.
01The idea
What you'd build
Offer small podcasts a monthly done-for-you package. The host drops each new episode into a shared folder. Your AI turns it into a clean transcript, show notes with a summary, timestamps and every link mentioned, a short episode page for their website and 3 social captions. You check names, links and timestamps, then send it all back within a day. Charge about $59 a month for 4 episodes (estimate).
Why now: 342,889 podcasts published an episode in the last 30 days, and in a 2025 survey a quarter of active indie podcasters named lack of time as a reason they had thought about quitting.
02Demand
Is anyone asking for this?
An idea is only worth your time if real people want it. Here's what we found.
- A public podcast directory counts 4,743,610 podcasts, and 342,889 of them published an episode in the last 30 days (checked 24 Oct 2026).
- In a 2025 survey of 558 independent podcasters, 52% said they do every part of the show themselves, and only 21% pay an editor or producer.
- In the same survey, 41% spend 6 hours or more on each episode, and 25% named lack of time as a reason they have thought about quitting.
- "Podcast show notes" gets about 480 searches a month, and the wider group of related phrases about 2,480 (keyword data, Oct 2026).
03The gap
Why isn't this solved already?
Self-serve apps write a first draft in seconds, but one production studio warns that these drafts tend to be generic, miss nuance and put timestamps slightly off, so the host still has to fix them. Human writers charge $25–100 an episode, which is a lot for a hobby show. Few people offer the middle: finished, checked notes for a small flat monthly price.
04The pain point
What hurts, and when
After recording, the host still has to listen back, find the timestamps, look up every link and write a summary. Good show notes take 30–60 minutes an episode, on top of editing, and most small hosts do it alone, every week, late in the evening.
😣 When it hurts: Right after editing an episode, when the host still has to listen back for timestamps, look up every link and write a summary before it goes live.
05Who needs this
The person you'd build for
- 👤Who they are
- Independent podcasters and small business shows that publish weekly or every two weeks, often with one or two hosts.
- 🧰What they use today
- Writing notes by hand late at night, pasting a rough draft from a self-serve app, or skipping show notes altogether.
- 📍Where to find them
- Podcast directories (shows that publish often but have thin notes), podcaster forums and groups, and podcast editors who don't write notes themselves.
- 💳Why they'd pay
- It gives them back 30–60 minutes an episode. Show notes writers charge $25–100 an episode, so about $15 an episode in a monthly plan (estimate) is an easy yes for a busy host.
06AI score
How much AI can do
🤖 AI does
- Builds the tool, the pages and the listing
- Runs checks and fixes problems
- Writes posts, emails and replies for you to check
- Turns your numbers into a weekly note
🙋 You do
- Make the accounts and pass ID checks
- Approve what AI makes
- Post, send and talk to buyers
- Handle the money, tax and decisions
AI can also prepare the selling and marketing work: posts, emails and replies. But a person has to do it: post, send and talk to buyers.
How hard is it? Easy.
07Your AI
What to have your AI do
Use any AI assistant you like. One paid plan (~$20 a month) is usually enough. Here's what to have it do:
Search the web for people asking for this, and list who already sells it and their weak spots.
Write the tool step by step, test it, and explain anything you need to do by hand.
Write your website, store listing and help pages in plain words, with no income claims.
Draft posts, emails and replies. You edit them, then post and send them yourself.
Keep your FAQ and refund rules in one saved chat or project, so every reply follows them.
Re-run the tests, check for changes, and turn your weekly numbers into a short note.
