Review replies for busy local businesses
Write and post a personal reply to every new customer review for local businesses like dentists, salons and cafés, for a flat monthly price.
01The idea
What you'd build
Offer local businesses a monthly plan where every new customer review gets a personal reply within a day or two. The owner adds you as a manager on their map and review listings, so you never need their password. Your AI drafts a reply to each review that picks up what the customer actually said. You check it, post the happy ones, and send the unhappy ones to the owner to approve first. Charge about $59 a month for up to 30 replies (estimate).
Why now: In 2026 surveys, 89% of consumers expect owners to reply to reviews and half are put off by template replies, but only 51% of small business owners reply.
02Demand
Is anyone asking for this?
An idea is only worth your time if real people want it. Here's what we found.
- In a 2026 survey of 1,002 US adults, 89% said they expect business owners to respond to reviews, and 42% said they are unlikely to use a business that ignores its reviews.
- In a 2026 survey of 1,002 US small business owners, only 51% said they reply to reviews, and 6% didn't know they could.
- In the same consumer survey, 50% said generic or templated replies make them unlikely to choose a business, and 81% expect a reply within a week.
- Professional services were the least likely to reply (45% do), against 63% of car businesses, in the 2026 owner survey.
03The gap
Why isn't this solved already?
Review software can suggest replies, but the owner still has to log in, read, edit and post each one, so many never do. Done-for-you reply services exist, but the ones we checked charge $40–125 a month for 10–50 replies, or $150–250 a month for a personal service. Many small owners sit in between: they want every review answered in their own voice, without thinking about it, for a small flat price.
04The pain point
What hurts, and when
Reviews arrive at random times while the owner is busy with customers. Replying feels like a chore, the right words for an unhappy customer are hard to find, and copy-paste thank-yous look lazy. Weeks go by, and the listing looks like nobody is home.
😣 When it hurts: A new 1-star review lands on a busy Saturday, and the owner has no time or calm words to answer it well.
05Who needs this
The person you'd build for
- 👤Who they are
- Owners and managers of local businesses with a steady flow of reviews: dentists, vets, salons, cafés, gyms, trades and repair shops.
- 🧰What they use today
- Replying now and then when they remember, pasting the same thank-you every time, or not replying at all.
- 📍Where to find them
- Map and review listings in your area (many recent reviews, few replies), local business groups, and web designers who serve local shops.
- 💳Why they'd pay
- In a 2026 survey, 80% of consumers said they are likely to use a business that answers all its reviews. About $59 a month (estimate) is below the done-for-you services we checked.
06AI score
How much AI can do
🤖 AI does
- Builds the tool, the pages and the listing
- Runs checks and fixes problems
- Writes posts, emails and replies for you to check
- Turns your numbers into a weekly note
🙋 You do
- Make the accounts and pass ID checks
- Approve what AI makes
- Post, send and talk to buyers
- Handle the money, tax and decisions
AI can also prepare the selling and marketing work: posts, emails and replies. But a person has to do it: post, send and talk to buyers.
How hard is it? Easy.
07Your AI
What to have your AI do
Use any AI assistant you like. One paid plan (~$20 a month) is usually enough. Here's what to have it do:
Search the web for people asking for this, and list who already sells it and their weak spots.
Write the tool step by step, test it, and explain anything you need to do by hand.
Write your website, store listing and help pages in plain words, with no income claims.
Draft posts, emails and replies. You edit them, then post and send them yourself.
Keep your FAQ and refund rules in one saved chat or project, so every reply follows them.
Re-run the tests, check for changes, and turn your weekly numbers into a short note.
